The Ijaw Youth Council IYC ( Worldwide), has elected Dr. Doubra Collins Okotete as the new President of the Ijaw vibrant youth organisation.
Dr. Okotete and his Exco were elected at the 10th Convention of IYC, which was held at the ultra Modern Dr. Gabriel Okara Cultural Centre, Yenagoa.
The Chairman of the Electoral Committee, Dr. Charles Ikimi of Federal University Otuoke , after sorted out ballot papers and counting of votes, declared the results and announced the winners as elected.
Those elected includes, Comrade Aladiokumo Henry Hart, Deputy National President, Barr Ayibakuro Igbeta, as National Secretary,, Jeanny Torudounkumo James, National Assistant Secretary, Omamuni Oluderimo, National Mobilization Officer.
Others include Imomotimi James, National Deputy Mobilization Officer, Victor Igbanigo, National Spokesman, Harry, National Treasurer, Henry Akenfa, National Financial Secretary, Barr. Meshach Ensintei, National Legal Adviser and Ebi Kotiyaibokuro will serve as National Women Leader.
The Electoral Committee Chairman, Dr. Charles Ikimi was assisted by Hon. Kingsley Kuku presented Certificates of return to the newly elected IYC 10th Executives.
The outgoing IYC President, Sir Jonathan Lokpobiri, Snr. announced that the new Exco will be inaugurated on Wednesday, July 22, 2026 , and thanked all delegates, Ijaw Youths for their peaceful disposition through out the period of the election.
He also thanked Governor Douye Diri for unifying the IYC leadership tussle, Elders of the Izon Nation and former IYC Presidents and other critical stakeholders for the various roles they played that led to the conduct of peaceful election.
In their separate remarks, former lawmaker and Presidential Adviser On Niger Delta Amnesty Programme, Hon. Kingsley Kuku advised the new IYC Executives to work as a team and take the Ijaw struggle for self determination, resources control to higher level and offer credible leadership and selfless service to humanity
For his part, Dr. Theophilus Alaye. expressed commitment for peace, unity and democratic participation, and strong leadership among Ijaw youths.

Eric Omare, Barr.Rowland Oweilami, Commissioner for Izon Affairs, HRH Oporomowei, Chief Jepthah Kalaiti among others.
