FCMB PLC on Wednesday announced the appointment of Mrs. Yemisi Edun as the acting Managing Director of the leading financial services institution.

Edun was appointed to replace its embattled MD, Adam Nuru, who was asked to proceed on leave by an internal panel after he got enmeshed in a paternity scandal with a former employee, Mrs. Moyo Thomas.

Friends o the woman’s husband, Tunde Thomas, had petitioned the bank and the Central Bank of Nigeria after he died late 2020 of a heart attack.

He and his wife allegedly separated two years ago after she relocated their two children to the United States and later told him that she had them for Nuru and not him.

This development allegedly pushed him into a stroke and eventually cost him his last life.

There have been various reports attempting to throw in different versions of the story, especially in defence of the MD and the woman.

However, one of them in which a solar engineer, Tunji Iromini, was named led to a rejoinder in which he threatened to sue an online portal.

The news medium later dropped the story from its website.

The bank is expected to take a decision the matter after the panel turns in its report.
