Senator Ishaku Abbo, accused of beating a salesgirl at a sex toys shop in Abuja has launched an image laundering campaign on Facebook.
The Adamawa North senator was elected as n the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party.
The senator, who is on bail from a magistrates court in Abuja, launched the campaign few days after his arraignment with a page tagged: Senator Ishaku Abbo – SIA.
As at Wednesday, up to 2,875 people had liked the page, which he described as his official social media channel.
He says he is “driven by a strong will to make a difference in his constituency and Adamawa State at large.”
In a post on Wednesday morning with a picture of him and his wife and baby boy, he wrote: “Always pray for a family that has a better understanding of yourself and so much dedicated to your success at all time (sic).
“Your success is their success. So also is the success of our community.”
In another post, he used a picture of the Emir of Mubi, Alhaji Abubakar Ahmadu, and a comment attributed to him: “Only God has the power to remove or recall Senator Abbo.”
There are also photographs of some of his philanthropic gestures in his constituency.
There is also a post with pictures of him and some members of the All Progressives Congress North-East Caucus at the National Assembly on Monday.
He was first arraigned before a Zuba Chief Magistrates’ Court on July 8, 2019 and it was adjourned till July 22.
At the resumes heating, the magistrate, Abdullahi Illelah, asked the police to produce necessary evidence to be used in prosecuting the senator.
