Western Union has banned money transfers to Nigeria.
The notice on this development was posted in hoardings in banks across Texas, United States and it is geared that it may spread to other states.
The notice took effect from August 12, 2019.
The notice in a bank branch reads that from the effective date, it would “no longer do Western Union transfers to Nigeria. We regret any inconvenience.”
When Metrostarng called Western Union on the telephone, a customer service representative, Ms.Cess Park, said they were not aware of such a development.
She directed our correspondent to contact the affected bank for information.
“We have a service to send money from the United States to Nigeria. We also have a service to send money from Nigeria. If there is an issue, you would have to contact the bank,” she stated.
The U.S Federal Bureau of Investigation had in Thursday announced the arrests of 80 Nigerians in widespread frauds amounting up to $10 million.
