Nigerians trooped to the stewers of Abuja on Friday in protest at the killing of a newspaper vendor, Ifeanyi Okereke, by a State Security Service aide in the convoy of the Speaker of the House of Representatives Femi Gbajabiamila.
Okereke was shot dead by the operative named by Gbajabiamila as Abdullahi M. Hassan.
Newspaagebts and vendors refuses to distribute their products till 10am.
They demanded the prosecution of the killer and adequate compensation for the victim.
In a second statement since the killing that took place on Thursday at the National Assembly junction, the speaker said he had handed the killer over to the agency for prosecution.
He said the incident had left him “badly shaken,” noting that he would meet with the victim ‘s parents who were on tgeur way to Abuja as at Friday afternoon.
He said he would ensure justice for the victim as well as adequate care for his family.
