Amid wasted efforts by outgoing United States President Donald Trump to invalidate the recent presidential election, Senate Majority Leader, Mitch McConnell, on Tuesday recognised Joe Biden as the president-elect.
In remarks on the floor of the Capitol, the influential politician said the Electoral College had "spoken. Today, I want to congratulate President-elect Joe Biden."
However, Senate Democratic Whip Dick Durbin, said it was "disappointing" that it took Republicans six weeks to accept reality and stop trying to undermine the electoral process.
