It was the great philosopher, Rene Descartes, that said: “I think, therefore I am.” This aptly describes a veritable and courageous wellspring of ideas who has traversed different fields of endeavour, recording uncommon feats and lighting the path for others to hope for great outcomes. Of course, the pathway from ideation to flawless execution is not the stuff of common men. Rather, it is the turf of unusual people – men unabashedly dedicated to excellence. Is it not in Proverbs 22:29 that it is declared: “Seest thou a man diligent in his business? he shall stand before kings; he shall not stand before mean men.”
This is the story of Engr. (Dr.) Michael Ayuba Auta, a man among men, a colossus, uncommon patriot, servant leader and resolute achiever.
Running through his loaded resume, you would marvel at the rich background of a man who has dedicated his life to the service of the people. Within just four decades, he has bestrode the tough terrains of business and politics like a Roman gladiator, riding from conquest to conquest. An indigene of Gauji, Fai ward, in Jaba Local Government Area of Kaduna State, he read Civil Engineering at the prestigious Federal Polytechnic Offa, Kwara State and moved on to a Master’s Degree programme in Project Management.
He is also an international Graduate, with a Master’s Degree in Business management and leadership from the London Graduate School. An honorary Doctorate Degree holder in Civil Engineering from LES COURLESE SONOU University of Benin Republic.
Hear him: “I am committed and pledging to serve, represent, and amplify the voices of my people in Southern Kaduna by running for 𝑺𝒆𝒏𝒂𝒕𝒆, 𝑲𝒂𝒅𝒖𝒏𝒂 𝑺𝒐𝒖𝒕𝒉 𝑺𝒆𝒏𝒂𝒕𝒐𝒓𝒊𝒂𝒍 𝑫𝒊𝒔𝒕𝒓𝒊𝒄𝒕 (𝒁𝒐𝒏𝒆 3) 𝒊𝒏 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒇𝒐𝒓𝒕𝒉𝒄𝒐𝒎𝒊𝒏𝒈 2023 𝒈𝒆𝒏𝒆𝒓𝒂𝒍 𝒆𝒍𝒆𝒄𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏𝒔. I am ready and willing to be a leader who discharges his responsibilities without bias, who leads by example, and strives to ensure ongoing collaboration among the inter-communities of southern Kaduna as one people. I am a person of integrity, I work efficiently, I relate with empathy, and I place a high value on accountability. I have come to work with my people to remove undeserving public officials from power in Southern Kaduna and deliver measurable beneficial results to the people.”
“The Labour Party (LP) has provided me with a platform from which to run. I am well aware that Southern Kaduna has placed all of her eggs in one political basket. However, I hope that our people will recognize that it is time to open their ears and pay attention to the viability of the candidates, regardless of their party affiliation. Trust me to demonstrate to you (our people) the importance of diversification and the reliability of an alternate basket.
When elected, I intend to spend my time working on the following through legislative action and lobbying.”
He then proceeds to outline his core mandate:
• 𝐑𝐞𝐢𝐧𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐜𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐬𝐞𝐜𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐧𝐞𝐭𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤
Without a doubt, insecurity is one of our most pressing issues today, and as such, it is my top priority. We will fight insecurity with every social and technological tool at our disposal. We will stand on the shoulders of giants and draw on the talents of young people to establish and empower a community-based security network. We will invest in advanced and offensive surveillance systems, as well as infrastructure for real-time data collection, processing, analysis, and storage for security purposes.
• 𝐑𝐞𝐯𝐚𝐦𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐡𝐜𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐬𝐲𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐦
We cannot achieve anything unless we have good health. Although this is a national issue, Southern Kaduna will set the pace. In the next ten years, we will strive and plan to achieve the goal of having a primary healthcare facility within 2 kilometres reach for our people in Southern Kaduna, as well as have at least eight standard, well-equipped hospitals. One per each LGA in Zone 3.
• 𝐑𝐞𝐯𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐒𝐨𝐮𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐧 𝐊𝐚𝐝𝐮𝐧𝐚 𝐄𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐨𝐦𝐲
The world has become boundless, the economy of countries has diffused across regions. It is time to empower our youths so that they can compete against global talents and work for international organizations while sitting in the comfort of Southern Kaduna. Our local talents should have global impacts.
• 𝐑𝐞𝐟𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐢𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐞𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧
The best legacy is education. However, education should not be limited to formal classroom teachings that may or may not lead to intelligence or wealth. As a result, there is a need to review and implement the appropriate educational method that will benefit our people and economy. We will investigate informal education, I believe in the Igbo apprenticeship system (which is currently being researched at Harvard University), reformed and technology-enhanced vocational training, or 21st century skill trainings in order to leave the best legacy to our people.
• 𝐑𝐞𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐒𝐨𝐮𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐧 𝐊𝐚𝐝𝐮𝐧𝐚
When we stand together, we are stronger than when we are divided. This is very relevant to our situation in Southern Kaduna. The majority of the problems we face as a people are caused by disagreement between our communities. We will educate and orient our people to understand that we are first and foremost humans, regardless of political party, religion, or race. We will implement and promote programs that strengthen unity, healthy competition, collaboration, and networking among various tribes and communities in Southern Kaduna.

Surely, a new dawn awaits his people who for long have endured the pants of failed leadership.
As he rolls into his fourth decade on earth, it is truly fitting to raise the glasses in a glorious toast to the uncommon achiever!!! Oh, lest we forget. It is said that life begins at 40. Indeed, it’s a new dawn of greater dedication to the people and to the nation. Let all men and women of goodwill raise 40 grand hearty cheers to an uncommon leader.
Happy Grand 40th birthday Sir.
