UK denies Nigerian doctor visa over unpaid four months’ salaries

The United Kingdom’s high commission in Abuja has denied a visa to an unnamed Nigerian doctor over his claim of unpaid four months’ salaries.

The high commission in an email to the doctor said it had viewed his bank account statement and found it hard to believe that the Nigerian government could withhold the wages of any of its workers for four months.

The doctor posted the emailed letter on Twitter.

The letter stirred anger on Wednesday as Nigerians fired back at the diplomatic mission.

They urged the high commission to grant him a visa as the claim was true.
