Tinubu wins APC’s presidential primaries

All Progressives Congress National Leader Asiwaju Bola Tinubu on Wednesday picked the presidential ticket of the party at its special convention in Abuja.


Seven aspirants had stepped down for him.

Tinubu defeated Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo; Senate President Dr Ahmad Lawan; flamboyant pastor, Tunde Bakare; former Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha; businessman, Jack-Rich Tein; Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, and former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi; Minister of Science and Technology, Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu; and Minister of State for Education Dr Emeka Nwajiuba, among others.

He got 1271 votes while Amaechi cane second with 316 and Osinbajo had 235 and Bello 47.

Okorocha and Bakare got no vote while Nwajiuba and Onu got only one apiece.

Lawan got 152 votes.
