A three-man panel in the Redeemed Christian Church of God has interrogated Leke Adeboye, the youngest son of the General Overseer, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, for calling some unnamed pastors “goats.”
He reportedly made the comment in a post on Instagram on Tuesday April 5, 2022 while commenting on this month’s edition of the church’s Thanksgiving service.
Some unnamed pastors were said to have gone ahead to preach a separate message after the GO’s televised address to all its parishes.
Responding in the Instagram post, Leke had said:
The comment did not go down well with Nigerians as he was hit with a barrage of attacks.
Many described him in uncomplimentary terms and even wondered why his father had remained silent over the matter.
It was also reported that Leke, who is also a personal assistant to his father, had in the past engaged in social media posts and public conduct that drew opprobrium to the church.
Though he had deleted the Instagram post, he was reportedly defiant while being quizzes by the panel.
One of the members of the panel is his father–in-law, according to Saharaerporters.
Leke was forced to appear before the three-man panel on Wednesday, and had been warned never to make such disparaging comments.
He was said to have remained defiant and brazenly declared that he would not issue an apology for ridiculing senior preachers of RCCG.
Sources within the church stated: “Leke Adeboye was made to face a panel today (Wednesday) for insulting pastors and calling them goats. The three-man panel, unfortunately, did not punish him or ask him to apologise. One of the members of the panel is his father-in-law.”
During the Sunday service, his father reportedly excoriated the Buhari administration.
He declared that God had not told him if elections would hold in 2023 and urged his followers to pray for the country.
Hours later, he uploaded an apology in his Instagram page for his “extreme comments.”
He stated that disciplinary measures had been taken against him and that he had received them in good faith.
