Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, on Tuesday inaugurated the Chairman and Members of the Visitation Panel for Lagos State University (LASU) at the Lagos House Marina.
The Members of the 10-person panel are Prof. Abdulrahaman Bello (Chairman), Prof. Dipo Kolawole, Prof. Ebunoluwa Adejuyigbe, Prof. Joseph Ajienka, Mr Ayorinde Ogunruku, Mr Lawal Pedro (SAN), Mr Ibrahim Aponmade, Engr. Akinwale Ayodeji, Mr Kalejaiye Adeboye, Mrs Yemisi Omoloye (Secretary)
The Governor, who is also the Visitor to the Lagos State University said back in September that the panel would be set up to look into the affairs of the university from 2009 to date.
The Special Adviser on Education to the Governor, Mr Tokunbo Wahab, had told reporters that setting up the panel is “not a witch-hunting exercise”.
“Normally, Visitation Panels to universities are set up every five years, but for some reason, the Lagos State University has not got any panel in the last 12 years and we are working on that. In the next few weeks, members of the panel will be announced.
“The statutory Visitation Panel would soon be set up. It is not a witch-hunting exercise. It is normal and expected and definitely, it would look into the finances of the school, staff strength, the facilities available and many more. It is to make things better,” he had said.
