The police in Enugu State on Monday said they were not aware of a video in which a woman was seen flogging a little boy and thereafter locking him in a dog’s cage.
Popular comedian, Gbenga Adeyinka, had drawn attention to the video in a tweet and Instagram post on Sunday.
He also offered a N20,000 reward for information leading to her arrest.
The video drew considerable outrage as Nigerians called on the police to track her down as arrest her for child molestation.
Adeyinka later posted another tweet in which he said the woman had been traced to Nsukka in Enugu State and was in police custody.
However, spokesman for Enugu State Police Command, Ebere Amaraizu, said in an SMS response to Metrostarng’s enquiry that such had not been brought to the attention of the police.
“There is no reported case of such to the command,” he said in the SMS.
