Panic and gridlock ensued on Lagos-Ibadan Expressway inward Lagos on Wednesday when Julius Berger ruptured a gas pipeline at a bridge near PUNCH Newspapers.
A pandemonium ensued even as motorists, pedestrians and bystanders at the nearby bus stop fled.
Also, mechanics, food vendors, beggars and sundry occupants playing their trade around and under the bridge fled to safety.
Security agents and the Federal Road Safety Corps has to stop traffic on both sides of the busy expressway as gas spread all over the area.
The Nigerian Gas Company was quickly contacted and shut supplies to the pipeline.
