Speaker of Oyo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin, on Tuesday said the house would not approve the contentious social media bill.

Intense debate has greeted moves by President Muhammadu Buhari and the leadership of the All Progressives Congress to pass the bill in order to regulate social media and clamp down on critics.

In a tweet, the speaker said: "Oyo State Govt Legislature will not support any form of restriction on Social Media freedom of expression/speech in any way."
