One suspect has been arrested and some weapons recovered after a former Director-Gemeral of the National Agency for Food and Drugs Administration amd Comtrol, Dr. Paul Orhii, escaped an armed robbery attack in his Makurdi, Benue State residence.
Orhii said on his Facebook page that around 1.05am on Monday, four men got into his compound and made their way towards the security post where they tried to overpower his police guards.
The police guards, however, shatter shooting and forced the intruders to flee, leaving behind two machetes, a loaded pistol cartridge and three pairs of footwear.
Preliminary investigation revealed that one of his securitymen may have collided with the robbers and helped them to gain access to his compound.
The securitymen, weapons and footwear have been handed over to the Special Anti-Robbery Squad for further investigation.
