No fewer than 10 houses and various properties were destroyed on Saturday morning after a tanker conveying 45,000 litres of diesel somersaulted and exploded on Olambe-Matogun Road in Ifo Local Government Area of Ogun State.

Although no life was lost in the incident which took place around 7am, the scale of destruction was massive.

Residents fled in different directions as the resultant blaze swept through the buildings.

Confirming the incident, the National Emergency Management Agency’s head of Lagos office, Mr. Ibrahim Farinloye, said the situation was mitigated when some of the inflammable content gushing out from the tanker found its way into a nearby drainage.
