Nigerians dare el-Rufai: Patrol Birnin-Gwari forest

A barrage of reactions has trailed the decision of the Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, to personally patrol the Kaduna-Kano borders on Sallah Day, as one of measures he devised to contain the spread of COVID-19 pandemic in the state.

As this year’s Ramadan wraps up, Eid-l-Fitr celebrations (the feasting celebration of the end of the month of Ramadān) is expected to be on either Saturday or Sunday.

As it is known worldwide, that due to the pandemic, there won’t be large gatherings for celebration of any kind. It is important to note that as part of the efforts of the Federal Government to contain the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic, the President had imposed a ban on inter-state travelling across the country.

News Digest reports that the governor blamed the surging cases of Coronavirus in the state on the influx of people sneaking into the state with the complicity of security operatives.

During a live chat with selected radio stations, El-Rufai had declared that he would personally patrol the Kaduna-Kano borders on Sallah Day, promising to remain there from morning till night.

However, a cross-section of Nigerians on social media reacted to the new development.
