Nigerian female striker, Asisat Oshoala, on Friday formally joined the Chinese women’s Super League by signing with Dalian Health Women in Quanjian, north of Beijing.
Oshoala, who moved from Arsenal Ladies of the United Kingdom, had last month strongly denied any plans to move to China like her male compatriots – Jude Ighalo and Obafemi Martins.
Before her relocation to the winner of last year’s Chinese league title, she had played 16 times for Arsenal and scored two goals.
The club is being managed by former Paris Saint Germaine coach, Farid Benstiti.
Though her representatives denied she was leaving Arsenal, saying she wanted to get a better season,she has Ben unable to find a good start in the club.
Chinese website, sports.le.com reports that Asisat is moving to China at a time of intense competition in the women’s league.
Jiangsu Suning Women’s official just announced the signing of Norwegian striker Isabel and Brazilian striker Gabriela. Asisat, who won the 2016 African Footballer of the Year was born in 1994, Asisat Oshoala is a Nigerian international.
She won in the 2014 World Youth Championship in Golden Globe and Golden Boot Award, and in the same year won the African Youth Youth Football Player and the best female football player in Africa. For the 2015 season, Asisat played in the Premier League and was named the BBC best female player.
She joined her new club on Friday for winter training in Kunming Haigeng and appeared in its jersey.
A formal announcement of her unveiling is being expected.
