Nigerian International, Kelechi Nwakali, and his Spanish club, SD Huesco, are embroiled in a feud over the withholding of his wages.

Nwakali took to Twitter on Tuesday in a four-page statement, detailing how the club withheld his wages and illegally terminated his contract for accepting to play for Nigeria in the last African Cup of Nations tournament in Cameroon.

He stated that after he received a call-up from Nigeria for AFCON in December 2021, the club’s Sporting Director, Ruben Garcia, told him not to honour the invitation, due to it “not being an important tournament.”

He said Garcia threatened that if he honoured the invitation, he would not play for Huesco again.

He said the club had been “bullying” him by delaying his wages and trying to force him to sign a new contract.

He said after AFCON, the club terminated his contract but he was saved by the player’s union of Spain.

The club then went on to prevent him from training.
