The Nigerian Army has dismissed a soldier, Johnson Ajayi, and handed him to the police in Abia State for trial over the killing of a commercial motorcyclist, Chimaobi Nwaorgu, in Aba.

The cyclist was stopped at a military checkpoint where he was asked to pay N100 bribe on August 8, 2019.

He refused and sped off.

Ajayi jumped on another motorcycle and trailed him to his village where he shot him dead in front of his father’s compound.

The murder sparked protests as youths of the area mobilised to the checkpoint and burnt all the items there.

The killer soldier was handed over to the police for prosecution.

The cyclist left a pregnant wife and three children.
