Few days after 25 persons were butchered by Fulani herdsmen in some villages in Kogi State, another band of pastoralists on Monday killed a traditional ruler, his wife and eight others in brazen attacks on some communities.
The Onu Agbenema, Musa Edibo, and his wife were killed when the herdsmen attacked Agbenema in Omala Local Government area.
The herdsmen also attacked Aj’Ichekpa, Iyade and Omada villages.
Witnesses said the herdsmen attacked the villages at night by setting houses ablaze and shooting at those who tried to escape.
They also slit the throats of some of the villagers.
Curiously, soldiers in the area refused to confront the murderers and even stopped the villagers from launching a counter attack.
The police did not also appear on the scene, leaving the herdsmen to have a field day destroying valuable properties and killing people
There also appears to be a sinister angle to the attacks as they removed vital parts from the victims ‘ corpses.
It is not know if the murderers intend supplying these parts to human organ syndicates.
