Bauchi governor’s wife pays fines for 50 prisoners

Wife of the Bauchi State Govetnor, Mrs. Aisha A.M Abubakar, has opted to settle the fines for 50 inmates of Bauchi prison.

This is in line with her continued support for the welfare of prison inmates in Bauchi State, according to a statement by the Command Public Relations Officer, Nigeria Prison Service, Bauchi State Command, ASP Adam Abubakar Jibrin.

The prison spokesoerson said the wife of the governor, had asked for a list of 50 inmates with option of fine and compensation for immediate payment.

The governor’s wife, who is also a lawyer, jad noted that she intends to pay for their fines in the spirit of the festive period and to enable them to celebrate the Yuletide with their families at home.

The governor’s wife emphasised that assisting the inmates and the less privileged people of the society is part of the agenda of her pet project; the Brilliant Girl Child initiative which is in tandem with Governor M.A. Abubakar’s people-oriented programmes in Bauchi State.

In his remarks, the Controller of Prisons Bauchi State Command, CP Sulaiman T Sulaiman, commended the governor’s wife for her numerous interventions to prisons in the state.

He recalled that Barrister Aish Abubakar had in 2016 paid fines and compensation to 42 inmates in the state.

She later registered them with the Federal Ministry of Labour and Productivity for vocational training and provided them with tools after graduation.

He assured the governor’s wife that the list would be made available to her as soon as possible.

He prayed for the success of her husband in office as executive governor of Bauchi State.
