Mariah Carey, others mourn music mogul Andre Harrell


Tears are flowing across the music world over the sudden death of Andre Harrell, founder of Uptown Records and Nuamerica Music as well as former boss at Motown Records.

Harrell’s Uptown Records was home to Mary J. Blige, Jodeci and Father MC.

He also groomed Sean Diddy Combs when he either for Uptown Records and later kicked him out.

Paying tribute, hip hop star, Mariah Carey wrote: “Why Andre ??? My heart is breaking and I can’t stop crying. He was an amazing friend and I will miss him forever. ?”

Few days before he died, Harrell criticised plans by American political leaders to reopen schools despite tens of thousands of deaths from COVID-19.

He had also campaigned for a new president to replace Donald Trump in the November presidential election.

He had tweeted: “Politicians risking Americans lives by prematurely opening schools & cities .Let’s change the narrative ,legislation and lets elect a new president . It’s time for vote or die.”
