Officials of the Nigerian Gas Company, a subsidiary of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, on Monday averted a major disaster as they detected and controlled a leaking LPG pipeline on Eric Moore Road in Iganmu area of Lagos.
The officials were alerted by residents to the leakage from the pipeline near Nigerian Breweries.
Officials of the National Emergency Management Agency and the fire service were also deployed in the area to handle any emergency.
The NGC officials were able to stop the flow of gas and allayed the fears of residents and workers in the various companies near the spot.
Spokesman for NEMA, Ibrahim Farinloye, said on WhatsApp: “Situation has been resolved and responders have dispersed from the scene.
The line had been having issues before now as scene have been excavated while the valves are exposed.”
