The landlord of a two-storey building under construction was crushed to death on Tuesday when the property collapsed.
The National Emergency Management Agency reports that the building located at 77, Tapa Road, OkeOjo in Isawo, Ikorodu collapsed around 2:30 p.m.
The landlord, Pastor Daniel Obasi, was trapped and died before help could reach him, according to NEMA spokesperson, Ibrahim Farinloye.
He said the police recovered his body recovered by the police and taken to the morgue of the General Hospital, Ikorodu.
The collapsed building was an attachment to the main building in front of the collapsed structure, the report said.
According to a neighbour, construction work was suspended on Tuesday due to the Eid El Kabir celebration.
Workers were at work on Monday till late evening.
The cause of the building collapse was suspected to inadequate time to allow sandfilled land to compact properly before the commencement of construction and the use of substandard building materials, according to neighbours .
