Lagos: Four die as soldiers, Ladipo market traders clash



No fewer than four persons were reportedly killed on Tuesday at Ladipo market in Lagos as soldiers and traders clashed.

A trader was said to have sold a defective used engine to a customer, according to an eyewitness.

The customer then hired some soldiers and took them to the market in a bid to recover his money.

Members of the Lagos State Environmental Corps overseeing sanitation in the market were also involved in the matter.

The situation degenerated as the soldiers allegedly opened fire on some traders.

In retaliation, traders burnt a Nigerian Army Toyota Hilux van.

Pandemonium set in as traders and customers fled
