No fewer than five bodies have been pulled out of the rubble of a seven-storey building that collapsed on Sunday in Lagos.
The building under construction had heaved for a few minutes before crashing down.
Two bodies were recovered on Sunday while three others were found on Monday.
The penthouse was the first to collapse and this led to a stampede by occupants of the structure
Witnesses said that the remaining structure crashed 20 minutes later.
The building was located on Oba Idowu Oniru Street by Avi Maria hospital close to Sand field bus stop in Lekki.
Six persons were said to be trapped on the third floor and it was among them that the initial two bodies dropped to the ground.
The building was sealed off on June 18, 2021 by the Lagos State Building Control Agency but was reopened shortly after.
On November 1, 2022, a 21-storey building collapsed in Ikoyi, Lagos State, killing scores of workers as well as the developer, his friend and staff members.
There have been other incidents of building collapse in parts of Lagos.
