Lagos collapsed building: Rescuers find eighth body, end operation

Rescuers from the Nigeria Police and other agencies on Monday morning weed their Search and Rescue operation at 12, Odo Lane in Obalende, Lagos State where a three-storey structure under construction collapsed on Sunday.

The building had got to the second level when it suddenly gave way.

As at Sunday night, seven bodies had been recovered as well as 10 persons with varying degrees of injury.

The body of a woman simply known as Aliyah to as recovered shortly after midnight, bringing the operation to a close, according to the South-West spokesman fir the National Emergency Management Agency Ibrahim Farinloye.

He said everyone affected by the building collapse had been accounted for.

Farinloye noted that the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency would continue with the removal of rubble and clearance of the site.
