Lagos assembly demands scrapping of SARS

The Lagos State House of Assembly on Friday called for the scrapping of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad of the Nigeria Police.

The assembly members held the debate after being briefed on the visit of #ENDSARS protesters to the complex on Thursday.

The protesters, who spent the night on the assembly grounds were brutalized by a combination of soldiers and policemen led by the Commissioner of Police, Hakeem Odumosu.

The assembly called for compensation for victims of SARS brutality and extra-judicial killings.

"If the unit we set up is not working for the people, and the people are calling for it to be disbanded, then let us do what they’re saying, Desmond Elliot representing Surulere constituency said.
