Kogi: 18 die as bus plunges into River Niger

No fewer than 18 persons died on Tuesday night after a bus plunges into River Niger in Koton Karfe area of Kogi State.

The driver was said to have slept off and lost control of the bus around 7.30pm, resulting in the accident.

Security agents rescued 13 others while one person was declared missing.

The State Commandant, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, (NSCDC), Suleiman Mafara, who disclosed this to newsmen in Lokoja, on the receipt of the distress call, said his men of the Disaster and Crisis Unit in conjunction with the Federal Roads Safety Corps and volunteer divers were mobilised to the scene.
