Kano: Police inspector shoots sergeant dead

A police inspector attached to Kano State Police Command, Yau Yakubu, has been arrested for shooting a sergeant, Basharu Alhassan, dead during a fight at their station in Warawa Local Government Area of the state.

Both men were said to have started quarreling after the sergeant mocked his senior over his posting out of the station.

The quarrel soon degenerated to a physical combat, with the inspector eventually pulling out his gun to shoot his subordinate.

The sergeant was rushed to Wudil General Hospital where he was confirmed dead.

Spokesman for the command, Abdullahi Kiyawa, confirmed the incident.

He said the Kano State Commissioner of Police, Sama’ila Shuaibu Dikko, had directed that the case be transferred to the headquarters.
