A man, Saeed Hussaini, was on Saturday rushed to Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital in Kano after his wife, Hanan, stabbed him for battering her.

Reports said the couple, who got married six months ago, had a misunderstanding which allegedly led to the stabbing.

He was said to have accused his four months’ pregnant wife of dating her ex-boyfriend.

Sources close to them alleged that the man was in the habit of beating his wife anytime they had a disagreement.

The victim’s brother, Alameen Kanoute, confirmed the development, saying: “Innalillahi Wainnailaihirajiun
was just informed of the incidence that happened to my brother Saeed Hussain . He was stabbed with a knife by his wife Hanan last night. Please include him in your prayers. He is presently receiving medical treatment at Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital.”

His tweet, however, elicited mixed reactions as some respondents alleged that it was the victim that stabbed himself in the process of beating his wife.

Some accused Saeed of habitually beating his wife and accusing her of infidelity while others alleged that the woman had been violating her marital vows.

One respondent said she had wanted to quit the marriage but her mother advised her to be patient.

A video of Hanan I police custody was also uploaded in Twitter.

In it, she showed lacerations and bruises on her face as well as her torn pyjamas.

However, the matter may have taken a new twist as a man by the handle @tjbrown825 said Hanan’s family would fight the matter in court.

“I know her, Hanan by name. She’s my niece and right now we have about 25 lawyers on ground. Justice must be done on her. The guy has been brutally molesting her for months but she kept quiet to cover her marital secret until this sad thing happened.
Thank you for the concern,” the tweet said.
