Kaduna: Two die as soldiers rescue 13 hostages from terrorists

Two volunteers have been reported dead after soldiers rescued 13 hostages from terrorists in Bana village of Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

The Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan, who broke the news in a statement on Wednesday, said the troops chased the terrorists to a forest in the area and engaged them in a fierce gun battle.

The terrorists were dislodged and the hostages freed.

He said the criminals had earlier attacked a church and directed the State Emergency Management Agency to assess the damage for necessary action.

He stated that the terrorists killed the two volunteers before the arrival of the soldiers and commiserated with their families.

The state has been tripped by a wave of kidnappings by terrorists linked to Boko Haram.

On Wednesday, the terrorists released 29 students of the Federal College of Forestry and Mechanisation, Afaka, Kaduna who had been in their custody for over one month.
