Kaduna: Terrorists bomb Kaduna-Abuja train

ISWAP loses 25 terrorists as Nigerian Army bombs camps

Suspected terrorists have detonated bombs on the railtrack of Abuja-Kaduna train and successfully immobilised it.

Credible sources confirmed the attack to DAILY NIGERIAN on Monday night, saying the attack occurred at a point between Katari and Rijana around 8pm.

One of the passengers who confirmed the incident in a telephone call said the attackers surrounded the train, shooting sporadically.

“All the passengers are currently lying on the floor of the train. The bandits are shooting sporadically. We are in serious danger,” said on of the panic-stricken passengers.

There are at least 970 passengers onboard the train, according to official sources familiar with the train service.

Soldiers swiftly mobilised to the scene and engaged the terrorists in a gunfight.

Sources said the terrorists abducted some of the passengers and killed some.

However, the National Emergency Management Agency said there were no casualties.

It said in a statement by the Director, Search and Rescue, Air Commodore Edward Adedokunle, that the Nigerian Army had secured the train as well as its occupants.

It reads: “I am in touch with the Defence Chief of Training and Operations at DHQ.

The event took place at about 8pm, a few kilometers before Abuja.There was quick security intervention to repel the attack and secure the passengers.

No casualties reported. The Army is on ground, train and passengers are secured.

NAF aircraft also on air patrol and surveillance at the location, looking out for possible abductees.”

Terrorists had on Saturday stopped an Azman Air aircraft bound for Lagos from taking off from Kaduna iInternational Airport.

They shot and killed one Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria securitymen before they were repelled by soldiers.

A video showed a male passenger being treated for gunshot sounds.
