National Emergency Management Agency on Thursday confirmed two dead and 31 vehicles destroyed in the pipeline fure at Ijegun, Lagos State.
The fire followed an explosion around 3am as vandals ruptured a pipeline bearing petroleum products.
The blaze lit the night sky as residents were forced to abandon their homes.
NEMA spokesman in Lagos, Ibrahim Farinloye, who issued the information, also said 12 persins were evacuated alive from the scene by rescue officials.
Out of the figure, four were taken to Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, Ikeja while eight were rushed to LASUTH Gbagada.
Firemen from the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation battled to contain the huge blaze for hours.
