
The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission on Thursday said its agents arrested former Kaduna State Governor, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, after he was granted bail by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission on Wednesday in Abuja.
This follows reports that the former governor was arrested by the Department of State Services after his two-detentoon by the EFCC.
It said in a tweet: “The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) writes tp stare that Mallam Nasiru El-Rufai the former governor of Kaduna State is in our custody as at close of work, Wednesday the 18th day of February 2026. Mallam Nasiru El-Rufai is in the custody of the Commission in connection with investigations.”
The tweet was authored by its Head, Media and Public Communications/Spokesperson, J. Okor Odey.
There were reports that DSS agents picked the former governor over his claim on an Arise Television 8nterview that someone hacked the phone of the National Security Adviser, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, and informed him (El-Rufai) of a plan to arrest him while returning from a recent trip to Egypt.
