Unknown gunmen on Wednesday evening attacked the venue of a meeting between a former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, and youths of Isuofia in Anambra State.
The gunmen also shot and killed three policemen guarding the former CBN boss, who is a leading contender in the forthcoming Anambra State governorship election.
Though sources said Soludo escaped unhurt, his whereabouts remained unknown.
The hoodlums reportedly abducted the state Commissioner for Public Utilities, Engr. Emeka Ezenwanne.
Confusion reigned in Afuzo area of the town where the Civic Centre is located.
There was no comment from either the police or the state government.
