DAY 2 OF THE FRSC OGUN STATE COMMAND 2019 EID- EL KABIR SPECIAL PATROL OPERATIONS

DATE: SATURDAY 10 AUGUST 2019

TIME 0700HRS

WEATHER CONDITION: Clear and cool

FUEL SITUATION: Normal

SECURITY SITUATION: There is no threat to patrol personnel and equipments.

TRAFFIC SITUATION: Road corridors in Ogun State, albeit with heavy traffic, but flowing freely.

Most of the corridors are free from gridlocks, except from Mowe to Oremeji/Kara – Ibafo) and Abeokuta – Ota – Lagos Expressway (except Owode/Iyana Ilogbo and other bad portions) where rehabilitation work slightly slowed the traffic. All other road corridors have unhindered movement.

Freely moving traffic is also at the Sagamu Interchange – Ìjẹ̀bú-Òde ; Abeokuta – Ibadan and the Ota – Idoroko international road, which are all free from obstructions as at time of reporting .

ROAD TRAFFIC CRASHES .
Four road traffic crashes were recorded yesterday, Friday 09 August, 2019 on highways across Ogun State .

The first crash occurred at about 0755hrs on the Lagos – Ibadan Expressway after Saapade Bridge, Saapade, close to Ogere that involved 07 persons (6 Male Adult and 1Female Adult). No body sustained injury, neither was any death recorded from the crash. The vehicles involved were 02 with registration number SMK857DJ, a Blue coloured MAZDA CAR. The second vehicle is with registration number AKD302XT, a white coloured DAF TANKER.
The suspected causes were wrongful overtaking which led to loss of control.

The second crash occurred at about 1715hrs on the Lagos – Abeokuta Expressway, around Joju, Sango – Ota. It involved 10 people (7 Male adult and 3 Female adult), No injury occured but 01 death, a Female Adult, was recorded. The lone crash involved a white coloured MAZDA BUS with registration number MUS600CW. The suspected cause of the crash was Break Failure. The corpse of the dead victim was deposited at Ifo General Hospital.

The third crash occured on the Lagos – Ibadan Expressway around Fidiwo.
The crash occured at about 0746 HRS, and invloved 03 Vehicles.
There were 05 people , all male adult involved in the crash. 02 people (2Male Adult) were injured. There was no death recorded in the crash. The following vehicles were involved in the crash
(1) A white coloured MAZDA E2000
with registration number LND 515 XJ
(2) A white coloured MAN Truck with registration number LSD 993 XL
The suspected cause of the crash was wrongful overtaking.
The injured victims were rescued to Victory Hospital Ogere and the obstructions cleared

The fourth crash occured at about 2300hrs
along the Lagos – Ifo – Abeokuta Corridor around the Abule Mecho ,close to Abeokuta .
02 Male Adults were involved in the crash . One person died and another sustained injury from the crash.
The vehicle involved in the crash, is a white and blue coloured SCANIA TRUCK with registration number NO:KRD833XT.

The suspected cause of the crash was tyre burst which led to loss of control.
The injured victim was rescued to ISE OLUWA HOSP Obada for medical treatment. and the corpse of dead victim was deposited at the Federal Medical Centre , Abrokuta Morgue, with the obstruction cleared.

TRAFFIC ADVISORY:
The FRSC Ogun State Sector Commander, Clement Oladele, hereby reminds the motoring public of heavy traffic along major highways in Ogun State due to the Eid El Kabir festivities travels and the ongoing Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) Holy Ghost Service.

He therefore advised motorists on need for driving cautiously during the Eid El Kabir and the RCCG Holy Ghost convention,

The Sector Commander still reminds motorists to note that the ongoing rehabilitation works of the Lagos – Ibadan Expressway, by Julius Berger Nigeria PLC, requires extra care to avoid unnecessary road traffic crashes.

The Sector Commander is also advising motorists to note that the rains are here and they should enhance their vehicle’s visibility when driving in the rains as well as ensure that their vehicles are in good condition and try as much as possible not to drive in the rains, except where absolutely necessary, considering the dangers associated with driving in the rains. Those driving in the rains should therefore reduce their speed to enhance safety
