N2.9bn fraud: Court demands Rochas Okorocha

Justice Inyang Ekwo of the Federal High Court in Abuja has ordered the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to keep the embattled former Imo Governor Senator Rochas Okorocha in its custody until his bail application is considered.

The presidential aspirant under the All Progressives Congress and his ally Anyim Nyerere Chinenye were arraigned before the court on Monday by the EFCC over a 17-count money laundering charge of alleged N2.9 billion fraud.

Justice Ekwo also ordered that Chinenye should also be remanded in the EFCC detention facility.

The judge, however, adjourned sitting till Tuesday for the hearing of the bail applications by Okorocha and Chinenye.
