Flash: Nobel Laureate, Toni Morrison, is dead



American Nobel Laureate, Toni Morrison, has died, a family friend tells Associated Press.

AP issued the alert  in a tweet.

Morrison won the Nobel prize for Literature in 1993.

She was an American novelist, essayist, editor and professor emeritus at Princeton University.

He books include Beloved, Song of Solomon, The Bluest Eye and Sula.

She changed her name from Chloe to Toni because people at Howard had difficulty pronouncing her name.

She was born on February 18, 1932 as Chloe Ardelia Woodford.
