Human rights lawyer, Femi Falana (SAN), on Friday advised President Muhammadu Buhari to drop the idea of arresting Oyo community leader Chief Sunday Adeyemo aka Sunday Igboho, over the eviction of Fulani herdsmen from his hometown, Igangan in Ibarapa Local Government Area of Oyo State.
Falana in a programme on Channels Television said Buhari didn’t take any action when northern governors repatriated almajiri to their states sometime last year.
He noted that as a result, there was nothing anyone could do to Adeyemo for towing a similar path.
He said: “If you do not protect the interest of Almajiris, why will you protect the interest of herders in any part of the country? This is why we have to maintain the same standard at all times and operate under the rule of law.”
