The police in Enugu on Saturday said they had traced a 14-year-old girl, Kosisochukwu Anioma, earlier declared kidnapped to get boyfriend’s house in Owerri, Imo State.
Her father had reported that she was kidnapped by unknown persons
However, the police said in a tweet: “Breaking……Kosisochukwu Anioma recently faked to have been kidnapped is now with @policeng_enugu .Reveals that she was not kidnapped but left their house in Enugu to meet with her school boyfriend in Owerri.”
She had reportedly said since their school closed for the long holidays, she was missing her boyfriend.
As such, she decided to fake her kidnap and travelled to stay with him.
Her father, Hon. Frank Anioma, had posted on Facebook on Thursday that his daughter was kidnapped on her way to New Haven in Enugu.
He said her phone was ringing initially but later was returning a “busy” signal.
