The raging protests for the total scrapping of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad of the Nigeria Police took a different turn on Monday as angry youths blocked the Murtala Muhammed Airport and National Stadium in Lagos.
They marched from Computer Village in the state capital, Ikeja, to the airport and stadium, where they barricaded all entrances and exits.
They carried placards that read: “iPhone no be gun,;” “SARS must end.”
The protests, which began around 10am, led to a total standstill in many parts of Lagos.
There were reports that a protester died in a violent clash between police and demonstrators in Surulere.
