Eight shops burnt in Lagos market fire



No fewer than eight shops were burnt on Sunday when a fire broke out from a containerised shop in Apongbon Underbridge Market on Lagos Island.

The cause of the fire was not known even as rescue officials battles the fire.

The fire broke out around 10.35am from the container and quickly spread to other shops.

The Director-General of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, Dr. Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, said all efforts to salvage goods from the shops were unsuccessful.

He said the fire was eventually contained, adding that the cause us being investigated.
