With the 2023 elections drawing near, Olorogun Kenneth Okpara, a former Commissioner for Finance and Economic Planning in Delta State has promised to transform the state and meet the yearnings of Deltans when he wins the 2023 gubernatorial election.
According to him, his administration will concentrate on five core areas that will essentially transform the state, alleviate poverty and make Delta a dream state, a place that makes sense.
“I will ensure Security, health and collaborative human development; Economic prosperity, job creation, educational advancement and youth empowerment; New transformative and robust agricultural drive and resource-based industrialization; Sustained infrastructural and socio-economic development; Exemplary and accountable leadership.
“Delta deserves a workable socio-economic, political development and wealth creation agenda that will build on the achievements of the past and present administration. With the S.E.N.S.E agenda and with the involvement of Deltans, I’ll succeed in repositioning the state for true greatness.
Okpara, a chartered accountant and international financial expert with strong leadership and analytical skills, with a proven successful track record of performance, believes he is eminently capable to deliver his promises.
He was former senior financial management specialist of the World Bank responsible for the financial management implementation support and supervision of the World Bank-funded and multi-donor trust fund investment projects in Afghanistan, South Asia region.
According to him, “I have a track record of performance. As Commissioner for Economic Planning, within the first 100 days in office, we got the 2012 state budget prepared, submitted to the Delta State House of Assembly (DTHA) and approved by the DTHA before 2011 year-end. This was the first in about 20 years’ history of Delta State”.
