Anxiety is high as President Muhammadu Buhari heads into isolation after having close contact with Nigeria’s High Commissioner to the United Kingdom, Sarafa Tunji Isola, and other embassy staff members that tested positive for COVID-19.
Buhari returned to Nigeria on Friday even as the high commission was shut for 10 days after the Nigerian diplomats tested positive for the virus.
Buhari was in close contact with the high commissioner and other diplomats, who subsequently tested positive, during his recent medical trip to UK.
It is not know if the president will miss the wedding of his son, Yusuf, to his fiancee scheduled for the palace of the Emir of Kano on Friday.
Confirming the development to The Guardian, the president’s Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Mallam Garba Shehu, said Buhari and members of his delegation had been tested for COVID-19 and would proceed to isolation.
He said they would undergo further tests.
