United States Surgeon-General, Jerome M. Adams, has advised people to stop buying masks as a preventative measure against count acting Coronavirus.
The top health official said in some tweets on Sunday morning that instead, people should adopt simple preventive measures like washing hands regularly.
The tweets read: “Seriously people- STOP BUYING MASKS!
They are NOT effective in preventing general public from catching #Coronavirus, but if healthcare providers can’t get them to care for sick patients, it puts them and our communities at risk!
“The best way to protect yourself and your community is with everyday preventive actions, like staying home when you are sick and washing hands with soap and water, to help slow the spread of respiratory illness.

There have been global appeals for people who are not sick to stop buying face masks so as not to create a global shortage for health workers, who actually need them.
