Coronavirus: Rwanda shuts churches, schools, offices

The tiny African nation of Rwanda says churches and other worship centres must be shut from Sunday while prayers should be observed at home, in the wake of the novel Coronavirus.

In a statement by the Ministry of Health, schools were also ordered shit from Monday while employees could ask their offices to allow them work from home.

The measures are in place for two weeks.

The statement also urged people to maintain a social distance from each other and to avoid large gatherings.

The government postponed weddings and other social events but said crowds would not be tolerated at burials.
