Coronavirus: Ailing Abba Kyari had contact with Kogi gov, Dangote, Kingibe, others

Indications have emerged as to how the blatant refusal of prominent Nigerians to self-isolate after returning from countries hit by the Coronavirus led to the easy spread of the disease among the elite.

Chief of Staff to President Muhammadu Buhari, Abba Kyari, who was one of the recalcitrant Nigerians, subsequently had.meetings with Africa’s wealthiest man, Aliko Dangote; Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, and a former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Babagana Kingibe.

Others include the Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, Katsina State Governor, Aminu Masari and Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Mallam Garba Shehu.

He also attended a meeting of the Presidential Taskforce on COVID-19 led by the SGF, Boss Mustapha, in Abuja on Sunday.

Three of Kyari’s aides have reportedly tested positive for the virus while the situation has thrown the Presidential Villa into disarray.

All those who had contact with Kyari have been advised to self-isolate and go for test.

Staffers of Vice-President Yemi Osibanjo’s office did not turn up for work on Tuesday.

Osinbajo reportedly got to his office late.

Kyari’s illness has not been confirmed by the presidency but there are reported plans to fly him from Abuja to Lagos to receive treatment.

A former Vice-President, Atiku Abubakar, whose son is undergoing treatment for Coronavirus, had on Tuesday tweeted prayers for the recovery of Kyari.
