President Muhammadu Buhari and a former Governor of Kano State, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, on Wednesday traded hot words over the removal of the Emir of Kano Muhammad Sanusi II from office.
Kwankwaso told BBC Hausa Service that Buhari was in the habit of interfering in matters about the state instead of facing the issues of governance.
Kwankwaso, who installed Sanusi as emir in 2014, said unnamed officials of the state government were saying Buhari directed Governor Umar Ganduje to dethrone Sanusi.
Buhari, however, fired back through his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity Mallam Garba Shehu by saying he has nothing to do with the matter.
He said it was malicious for anyone to accuse him of interfering in the issue.
Buhari had last year attempted to broker a truce between Ganduje and Sanusi to no avail.
